Tokyo Olympic silver medalist and American hurdler Kendra Harrison “Kenni” delivered a commanding performance at the Atlanta City Games in the women’s 100m hurdles.

The Tokyo Olympic silver medalist clocked an impressive 12.30 seconds, surging ahead of Tia Jones who clocked 12.36 stacked field in a race that showcased the depth of American sprint hurdling talent.

After the race, Kendra Harrison emphasized the mental strength and clean technique behind her success. “I still trust myself. I’ve been doing this for so long. I know what I can do,” she said calmly, revealing the quiet confidence that has propelled her through years of ups and downs.

The race was tight, as hurdle events often are, but Kendra Harrison’s focus on clean execution over the barriers proved decisive. “My coach said, you run clean and you’re winning today,” she shared,

Highlighting the strategy that helped her improve her time by a tenth of a second compared to just two weeks ago.

“To run 12.40 two weeks ago to 12.30—it shows that things are going in the right direction,” Harrison added. “And that’s all I want: improvement.”

Her calmness under pressure and ability to block out distractions proved key in a race where hundredths of a second matter. “I can’t get caught up in what’s going on around me. I have to get over the barrier first,” she explained.

Kendra Harrison Transition

Since transitioning in 2022 to train with legendary coach Bobby Kersee alongside stars like Olympic champion Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone,. Harrison’s journey has been challenging. After earning a bronze medal at the 2023 World Championships and facing disappointment at the U.S. Olympic Trials, her Atlanta win is a clear sign of resurgence.

With rising talents like Summer Games champion Masai Russell pushing the event’s standards. Harrison’s victory is not just a personal triumph. It is a statement of resilience, experience, and unwavering focus.
