Brazilian hurdler Alison dos Santos made history at the Adidas Atlanta City Games, smashing the world best in the 200m hurdles straight with an incredible time of 21.85 seconds (1.5 m/s wind). He shattered the previous record of 22.10 seconds, jointly held by Britain’s Andy Turner and South Africa’s LJ van Zyl. Dos Santos powered past American Caleb Dean, who started strong but finished second in 22.30 seconds, while fellow American Sean Burrell took third in 23.00 seconds.
