Kenyan Faith Cherotich delivered a spectacular performance in Doha, edging out Olympic champion Winfred Yavi in a dramatic finish to the women’s 3000m steeplechase.

The race lived up to its billing, with the Wanda Diamond League champion and the Olympic gold medalist battling stride-for-stride in a pulsating final lap that had the crowd on its feet. As they approached the last barrier, Yavi appeared to have the edge, surging ahead on the home straight.

But just when victory seemed certain for the Bahraini, fatigue crept in. Faith Cherotich, showing grit and perfect timing, launched a stunning late attack to snatch the win right before the line.

Her winning time of 9:05.08 not only sealed the victory but also marked a new world lead for the season, underlining her growing dominance in the steeplechase.
