The athletics world will witness new talents break records and emerge as future serious contenders at the Loughborough International Athletics. Meanwhile, Great Britain and Northern Ireland have named a 50-strong U20 squad to compete at the 2025 Loughborough International Athletics match on Sunday, May 18. The team features a blend of European U20 medallists, British champions, and promising talents. They are set to face stiff competition from Loughborough University, England, Scotland, Wales, and the National Athletics League.

Among the standout athletes set to grace the 2025 Loughborough International Athletics include, Teddy Wilson, the reigning Commonwealth Youth Games champion and European U18 100m record holder. Wilson will compete in the 200m and join a strong 4x100m relay team alongside Dean Patterson and Joel Masters.  With whom he won silver at last year’s World Athletics Junior Championships.

Meanwhile, Thea Brown returns to international action. He is set to debut his season at the 2025 Loughborough International Athletics. Thea earned silver in the heptathlon at the 2024 European U18 Championships and will contest hurdles and high jump events. Other notable names include Otis Poole, the UK Indoor high jump champion, and Maddie Down, a Paralympic GB athlete competing in the long jump.

In addition, Middle-distance runner Shaikira King, a 2024 European U18 silver medallist in the 800m and UK Indoor bronze medallist, also features prominently. Highlighting the team’s depth across disciplines. Moreover, the squad will contest a full range of events, including para-athletics and mixed-gender relays.

Notably, team Leader Darren Ritchie emphasised the event’s importance as a development platform.

“The Loughborough International always provides an exciting opportunity for our U20 athletes to test themselves against senior opposition early in the season… It’s a great development opportunity, and we’re looking forward to seeing them rise to the challenge.”

The meet, held at Loughborough University’s Paula Radcliffe Stadium, serves as the traditional curtain-raiser to the outdoor season. The 2025 Loughborough International meet serves as a key stepping stone toward major summer championships.
