USA lit up the track in Guangzhou on Sunday night, storming to victory in the mixed 4x400m relay final at the World Athletics Relays 2025. The quartet of Chris Robinson, Courtney Okolo, Johnnie Blockburger, and Lynna Irby-Jackson delivered a scintillating performance, clocking a Championship Record of 3:09.54 to claim gold.
Robinson set the tone for Team USA with a blistering 44.97 split on the opening leg, giving his team an early advantage. Okolo maintained the pace, posting 50.88 on the second leg before handing over to Blockburger, who clocked an impressive 44.16. Irby-Jackson anchored the team home with a swift 49.53, sealing both the win and a new Championship best.
Australia clinched the silver medal in 3:12.20, breaking the Oceania Record in the process. The Aussie team was hot on the Americans’ heels through the opening two legs, even leading at the halfway mark with 1:35.43. Their consistent splits of 45.10, 50.33, 45.50, and 51.27 earned them a historic podium finish.
Kenya rounded out the medals with a strong third-place finish in 3:13.10. After starting in fifth place on the first leg with 45.98, the Kenyan quartet surged into contention thanks to a rapid second leg of 49.77. They maintained their podium position through the final two legs, closing with 45.93 and 51.42 to secure the bronze.
Great Britain & Northern Ireland finished fourth in 3:14.74, followed by South Africa (3:16.29), Belgium (3:16.45), Poland (3:16.48), and Ireland (3:19.64).
The top 14 nations per relay at World Relays qualified for the World Championships set for 13–21 September 2025 in Tokyo.
