Jamaican sprint legend Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce will return to the Diamond League in Doha on May 16 after a three-year break.
The five-time world champion, who last competed in a Diamond League meet in 2022, confirmed her participation in the third stop of the 2025 season.
Shelly-Ann, who recently opened her season with a 10.94s (+3.1m/s) performance in Kingston in April, expressed her enthusiasm about returning to Doha.
“Doha holds a special place in my heart, and I’m truly excited to return for this year’s Diamond League,” Fraser-Pryce told the Diamond League website.
“From the start of my career, I’ve understood the power of the platform that track and field provides. I’ve competed at the highest level for years, and this blessing drives me to lead, inspire, and uplift the next generation.
The 37-year-old, who announced in January that 2025 will be her final season in professional athletics, remains laser-focused on leaving a lasting legacy.
“My focus remains sharp, and I approach this season with the same levels of discipline, passion, and determination that have defined my career,” she said.
“Every race presents an opportunity, and I commit to making each one count.”
Shelly-Ann, the third-fastest woman in history with a personal best of 10.60 seconds (set at the 2021 Lausanne Diamond League), last raced in Doha in 2021, where she dominated the 100m in 10.84 seconds.
Before her Diamond League return, the two-time Olympic 100m champion will represent Jamaica at the World Athletics Relays in Guangzhou, China, May 10-11.
