Excitement is building in Jamaican athletics circles as two of the nation’s most celebrated sprinters, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson, gear up for the 2025 World Athletics Relays. With the event set for May 10–11 in Guangzhou, China, anticipation runs high for what could be a defining moment in Jamaica’s relay legacy.

The full roster, announced by the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association, features an impressive mix of Olympic medalists. It is a well-blended mix of rising stars and seasoned relay veterans. Yet, it’s the presence of Fraser-Pryce-fresh off her 2025 season debut at Velocity Fest-and Shericka Jackson. The two-faced injury setback last year. Moreover, it is their return which has fans and rivals watching closely.

Both athletes headline the women’s 4x100m relay pool, joined by talents like the Clayton twins, Niesha Burgher, and World U20 champion Alana Reid, forming one of the most formidable lineups in recent memory.

Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce Olympics 2024

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce competed in her fifth and final Olympics at Paris 2024, aiming to add to her impressive medal collection. She ran the second fastest time in the 100m heats with 10.92 seconds, advancing comfortably to the semifinals.

However, she withdrew from the 100m semifinal due to an injury sustained during warm-up, ending her bid for an individual medal at the Games.

Despite this setback, Fraser-Pryce remains a key member of Jamaica’s 4x100m relay team. Over her career, she has won eight Olympic medals, including two 100m golds and a relay gold from Tokyo 2020.

Moreover, Jamaica is set to contest five events: men’s and women’s 4x100m and 4x400m relays, plus the mixed 4x400m.

The men’s squad also boasts Olympic silver medalists Kishane Thompson and Yohan Blake, adding depth to the sprint relay pools. With such a stacked roster, it’s no doubt Team Jamaica is poised to challenge for gold and reaffirm its status as a global relay powerhouse.
