Organisers of the 2025 Prefontaine Classic have announced a world-class field for the Bowerman Mile, set for July 5 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. The race will feature Olympic medalists Cole Hocker, Jakob Ingebrigtsen, and Yared Nuguse.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen, currently ranked No. 1 globally at 1500 meters, leads the field. The Norwegian athlete won Olympic gold in the 1500 meters at the Tokyo Games and added a 5000-meter gold in Paris. He holds the Bowerman Mile record with a personal best of 3:43.73. The third-fastest time ever recorded for the distance. Ingebrigtsen’s return to Eugene adds excitement, as fans anticipate whether he can lower his meet record.

On the other side, Cole Hocker, the reigning Olympic 1500-meter champion, will make his first mile appearance since his gold-medal performance in Paris. Hocker, who set his personal best of 3:48.08 at the 2023 Pre Classic, is expected to draw strong support from the home crowd, being a University of Oregon alumnus.

Meanwhile, Yared Nuguse, the American mile record holder, joins the field after a stellar season. Nuguse set an indoor mile world record of 3:46.63 and claimed bronze in the 1500 meters at the Paris Olympics. He is currently ranked No. 2 in the world at 1500 meters and finished second in last year’s Bowerman Mile.

The 2025 Bowerman Mile marks the 25th edition of this prestigious event. Renowned for fast times and dramatic finishes. While reigning champion Josh Kerr will not compete this year, the field remains exceptionally deep. Featuring multiple Olympic medalists and national record holders.

With such a talented lineup, the Bowerman Mile promises an unforgettable race. Meanwhile, athletes and fans prepare for a thrilling showdown at one of track and field’s most iconic venues.
