Alison dos Santos delivered a stunning performance in the men’s 400m hurdles at the Grand Slam Track Miami. Alison clocked 47.97 seconds to claim his second consecutive victory in the series. The Brazilian star dominated the field at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar, Florida, on Friday, May 2, finishing nearly a full second ahead of his closest competitor.

The race began with drama as Jamaica’s Roshawn Clarke stormed to an early lead but unexpectedly dropped out, creating an opening for dos Santos. American Caleb Dean briefly challenged the Brazilian through the first 200 meters, but his hopes faded when he hit a hurdle in the home straight.

With both Clarke and Dean faltering, dos Santos seized control of the race, powering through to the finish. Additionally, American Chris Robinson capitalised on Dean’s mistake to secure second place with a time of 48.92 seconds.

This victory builds on dos Santos’ momentum after winning the same event at the Kingston, Jamaica leg of the Grand Slam Track series last month. The 2022 world champion and Olympic bronze medalist continues to establish himself as the man to beat in the 400m hurdles this season.

Standing 6’7″, dos Santos combines power with technical precision, making him a formidable competitor in both the 400m hurdles and 400m flat events. His performance in Miami earns him valuable points in the Grand Slam Track standings as the series continues.

The Miami meet, running from May 2-4, features 96 elite athletes competing across sprint, hurdle, and distance categories for a share of the $12.6 million annual prize purse. With this victory, dos Santos strengthens his position as one of the headline performers in Michael Johnson’s innovative track series.
