Ten world record-holders and 23 reigning global individual champions will headline the star-studded fields at the Wanda Diamond League opener in Xiamen on Saturday, April 26. The Egret Stadium, a state-of-the-art venue in the picturesque coastal city of Xiamen, will host the event. Meanwhile, many athletes will take this as their first step toward the Diamond League Final in Zurich and the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo later this year.
Meanwhile, Mondo Duplantis, fresh from being named Laureus World Sportsman of the Year, returns to Egret Stadium to start his outdoor season. The Swedish pole vault prodigy set three world records last year and recently cleared 6.27m indoors. He will face stiff competition from Greece’s Emmanouil Karalis, world silver medallist Ernest John Obiena, and two-time world champion Sam Kendricks. The men’s pole vault stands out as one of the events promising high stakes and record prize money.

Olympic gold medallist Yaroslava Mahuchikh, Australia’s Nicola Olyslagers, and Eleanor Patterson will renew their rivalry in the high jump. The women’s discus will include Olympic champion Valarie Allman, world champion Laulauga Tausaga, and several top contenders. Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon will make her 2025 debut in the 1000m. The women’s 5000m, another Diamond+ event, will pit world record-holders Beatrice Chebet and Gudaf Tsegay against each other.

Shericka Jackson aims to continue her comeback in the 200m, while Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo leads a competitive men’s 100m field.
