US sprint hurdles sensation Grant Holloway is set to continue his quest for glory as he prepares to compete at the Shanghai/Keqiao Diamond League meeting on May 3.
Holloway will also join an elite lineup of track and field stars for the second leg of the Wanda Diamond League circuit in Xiamen on April 26.
At just 27 years old, Holloway has already cemented his legacy as one of the greatest hurdlers of all time. The American superstar clinched Olympic gold in Paris last year, adding to his collection of three world titles. His 12.81 PB puts him just 0.01 seconds from Merritt’s 12.80 world record set in 2012.
Holloway has his sights set on reclaiming the Diamond Trophy, an accolade he last won in 2022. Despite securing seven Diamond League victories over the past two seasons, he narrowly missed out on the overall title.
This year, he seeks to rewrite history and secure a fourth straight world title in Tokyo.
Holloway won’t be the only global superstar lighting up the track in Shanghai. The event will feature three other world record holders, Mondo Duplantis (pole vault), Yaroslava Mahuchikh (high jump), and Karsten Warholm (400m hurdles).
“I am so excited that Shanghai is back on the calendar since last year, and I can’t wait to experience the crowds and the roar of the stadium as we battle out who’s fastest over the hurdles!” Holloway said as quoted by Diamond League News.
The Wanda Diamond League is the pinnacle of one-day athletics meets, featuring 15 premier events across the globe. Athletes earn points at 14 events to qualify for the 2025 Wanda Diamond League Final in Zurich August 27-28. For Holloway, strong performances in Xiamen and Shanghai will be crucial in setting the tone for his season.
