Andre De Grasse leads Canada’s squad for World Relays Guangzhou 25

Canada has unveiled a formidable 26-member team, headlined by Olympic champion Andre De Grasse for the World Athletics Relays Guangzhou 25. The relays set to take place on May 10–11, in China.

200m Olympic gold medallist Andre De Grasse will be at the heart of Canada’s men’s 4x100m relay squad. He will be joined by sprinting stalwarts Aaron Brown, Jerome Blake, and Brendon Rodney, the same dynamic quartet that clinched silver at the last World Relays in The Bahamas and went on to seize Olympic gold in Paris.

The national team will also compete in the women’s 4x100m, mixed 4x100m, women’s 4x400m, and mixed 4x400m events.

One of the standout names in the women’s relay lineup is Audrey Leduc, who played a crucial role in helping the women’s 4x100m team qualify for Paris at the last World Relays. Brimming with confidence and experience after her Olympic debut, Leduc is more prepared than ever for the challenge ahead.

“What is different going into my second World Relays is the experience I have gained in the past year,” she told World Athletics.

“The Olympic Games gave me more exposure on the international scene and taught me how to better face the best in the world. I will arrive at the World Relays with so much more confidence.”

“The beauty of the relay is that anything can happen, so the important thing is that each member of the team gives 100%,” she emphasized.

“The secret ingredient is the chemistry within the team. You can see it with the men’s team, they have been working together for a long time, and the result was Olympic gold in Paris. That’s the kind of connection that can make all the difference.”
