Mary Moraa Eyes Miami After Grand Slam Track Withdrawal

Mary Moraa now eyes Miami after withdrawing from the women’s 1500m race at the Grand Slam Track event in Kingston, Jamaica.

Moraa`s decision comes after she finished her 800m race, where she had hoped to perform well in the 800m and 1500m events.

In her statement, Moraa expressed her disappointment: “I came in Kingston hoping to stage standout performances in the Short Distance races—800m and 1500m—at the Grand Slam Track.” However, she was forced to withdraw due to a recurring medical condition.

Moraa continued, “Unfortunately, that will not happen since I am forced to withdraw from the second race—1500m—and the entire event tonight because of a recurring medical condition.”

Despite the setback, Moraa remains optimistic about her future performances. She expressed gratitude to the event organizers, particularly legendary athlete Michael Johnson, for the wonderful initiative and invitation.

Looking ahead, Moraa is now focusing on recovery and preparing for her next event in Miami. She said, “I hope to recover and bounce back on time for the next event in Miami, USA.”

Moraa, well known for her resilience and determination, is now eyeing the next event at Miami, hoping to reedem herself, from the Grand Slam Track setback at Kingston, Jamaica.

Moraa is the 2022 World Athletics Championships Champion, the 2022 Commonwealth Games Champion and also the 2022 bronze medalist the World Athletic Championships.

Nikki Hiltz won the first 800m race, setting a strong pace for the rest of the event. Moraa’s fans have flooded their respective social media pages to wish her a speedy recovery.

The Unstoppable Rise of Mary Moraa’s Athletics Career

Mary Moraa sprinted barefoot in the Nairobi National meets. She finished second in the 400m, which earned her a World U18 spot.

She won silver at the 2017 World U18 Championships. Moraa then transitioned to the 800m.

In 2022, she won gold at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games. Moraa also claimed bronze at the Eugene World Championships.

Her talent secured her an education bursary. Joy Chepkoech and Faith Chepkoech are her role models.
