The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has imposed a five-year ban on Indian athlete Vivek More for violating anti-doping regulations.
Vivek More tested positive for Mephentermine, Meldonium, and dEPO, three prohibited substances, from a urine sample he provided on 15 December 2024 at Bajaj Allianz Pune Half Marathon in Pune, India.
The ban is effective from February 21, 2025, meaning Vivek More will be ineligible to compete in any athletics events until February 20, 2030.
Additionally, his competition results dating back to December 15, 2024, have been disqualified, nullifying any medals, titles, or records he may have achieved during that period.
According to the official Athletics Integrity Unit report, “The presence of Mephentermine, Meldonium, and dEPO in an athlete’s system is a clear violation of anti-doping regulations. These substances are categorized as performance-enhancing drugs and are strictly prohibited under World Athletics’ Anti-Doping Rules.”
“The presence of multiple prohibited substances further strengthens the evidence of intentional doping, warranting a significant period of ineligibility,” AIU emphasized in the press release.
The AIU continues to reinforce its commitment to ensuring fair competition in athletics by imposing strict penalties on those found guilty of using banned substances.
“Clean sport is the foundation of athletics, and every athlete has a duty to compete fairly. Any violation of anti-doping rules will be met with firm consequences,” AIU said in a press release.
More may appeal the decision through the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), although successful appeals in such cases are rare.
